Driving sequences
The DARTS-PL database is a unique collection of real road situations recorded in Poland. It contains specially selected road sections allowing for the representation of a wide range of scenarios taking into account the infrastructure and traffic organization characteristic of Poland.
Two main criteria were taken into account while selecting road sections:
- high accident density – sections with high accident rates in recent years;
- characteristic engineering solutions – sections containing engineering objects and/or marking methods that are used in Poland.
The DARTS-PL database records natural road traffic encountered in these locations, with care taken to preserve the diversity of object classes present in the recordings. In addition to the scenarios recorded in selected locations, the DARTS-PL database also offers a special collection of recordings containing objects and situations that may pose a challenge to classic object classification algorithms.

A DARTS-PL scenario consists of a fixed driving sequence along a fixed trajectory.

Road sections
Selection of measurement sections based on the infrastructure solutions and the safety level on a given section.

Driving sequences
Planning the measuring vehicle movement in a selected traffic situation, e.g. a left turn.

Recording
Recording in real conditions, in places resulting from step 1, according to the plan developed in step 2.
Only the movement of the measuring vehicle is fixed – the parameters of the movement of other vehicles or events in the environment are natural. A single sequence of a recorded scenario usually contains 10 to 20 seconds of material. Each scenario is also described with a set of metadata, allowing easy selection of samples by specifying the desired static or dynamic features.
